I love that felling when you know a really good book is coming. Normally it's part of a series or from an author you love. I remember lining up for the final Harry Potter. I'd ordered it, the book store was packed. I can't remember if I was meant to be working that day or not, but I was there, ready and waiting.
There hasn't been a series that has quite matched that release day hype, but I was thrilled to get my hands on a copy of City of Fallen Angels. I loved the Mortal Instruments Series. It played on the paranormal elements without being a carbon copy of anything around. And it had great twists, which I love. I love it if a book gives me something I wasn't expecting (and it's rare I don't figure the twist out).
In 2011 I'm also eagerly waiting to read Dead Reckoning, Dark Inside and Carrier of the Mark.
So I want to know - what books are you hanging out for this year to be released?

I'm dying to get my hands on a copy of Inheritence, which comes out in November.
ReplyDeleteThe Carrier of the Mark was my #1, but I got my hands on an ARC, yippee!!!
ReplyDeleteNow I'm dying for Clare's other release: Clockwork Prince (2nd in the Infernal Devices series). I loved the first book. :)
But NOTHING compares to the Harry Potter release dates for me either, Sharon!
For me, I need to go get Divergent. Then in the fall I really want to get The Death Cure, by James Dashner. And Dar Inside seems like something I'd love to read.
ReplyDeleteAs of now, I'm dying to read Clockwork Prince and The Near Witch. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if Where She Went by Gayle Forman has been released here in the UK yet, and if it has it's only been very very recently. I can't wait to read that.
ReplyDeleteI've been looking forward to reading the anthology Corsets and Clockwork for a while too; I think that's released in a couple of weeks.
Legend by Marie Lu
ReplyDeleteI just bought Divergent and I've been looking forward to this book since before Veronica even got an agent! I'm also looking forward to Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi because I've been waiting to read some of her fiction since the very first blog post I read!
ReplyDeleteI just read City of Fallen Angels and loved it! I can't wait for Scott Westerfeld's Goliath. Also Beautiful Chaos by Garcia and Stohl and Forever by Maggie Stiefvater.
ReplyDeleteAs I read this, I am waiting for the next Sookie Stackhouse novel to come from the post office. I'm with you... there is nothing quite like the excitement.
ReplyDelete^ I used to wait as long as I could stand to read a Sookie book b/c then it would be another year until a new one. Now, I'm behind. I still love that series, I just don't like to wait!
ReplyDeleteI'm dying to read Mastiff by Tamora Pierce and Divergent. City of Swords by Mary Hoffman. Iron Knight by Julie Kagawa.
