Hello, fellow YA writers and readers!
Welcome to YAtopia, the newest group blog dedicated to anything and everything Young Adult. YAtopia consists of eight writers, all in various stages of publication. We created this blog to share information about our journeys, the publishing industry, giveaways and competitions, and anything else entertaining and informative.
You'll get to learn a little more about your posters come opening week.
Kick-off date is January 3rd, 2011.
Until then, drop into the comments and say hi. Tell us what kind of content YOU want to see on the blog.
Come back and see us!

Oh, good idea, Evie! Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
ReplyDeleteFantasy YA is what I'm hankering for, please. I'm usually an adult fantasy reader, so it'd be good to see how it's done for the young 'uns :)
ReplyDeleteJamie, I came to YA from reading mostly adult, too. I haven't done much fantasy, but I'm sure some of the other YAtopia writers will have some info for you there. Thanks for stopping by! We love getting this kind of feedback before the lanuch so we can try and bring the readers what they want.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see peer query edits, and maybe some agent guest posts about what they like to see in queries and ms.
ReplyDeleteAWESOME!! Can't wait to see what 2011 brings!
ReplyDeleteBrandi, GREAT. We will definitely look into that.
ReplyDeleteGirls, YAY. Glad you made it over.
Howdy! Looking forward to hearing about your writing!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Brermatt!
ReplyDeleteThis all looks great so far! :o)
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see some writing exercises on here. You know, the kind you get in classes/workshops, like "imagine your main character is *here* and *this* happens. How do they react?" (Yeah, that's all I've got! LOL Which is why I'd love to get some more!) They help so much with character & world building.
YAY for a new YA writer group blog, the more the merrier! I would love see written and picrure writing prompts! I'm a very visual writer, so getting to look at and collect awesome pictures is great for inspiration! :)

Ooh, Erin and Blogger Girlz, great ideas to get us back to the basics! Should be fun to see how our various fantasy vs. genfic characters will respond. And it's been forever since I wrote to a prompt... everybody watch out, haha. :)
ReplyDeleteThese are all brilliant suggestions guys. I love when the readers tell us what they want. A blog is much much more than the bloggers, it's the readers that shape and mould it with comments and ideas. This is a great opportunity to create something very special. Keep them coming. I can't wait until kick off!
ReplyDeleteI'm a YA and Romance gal, this is a great idea, can't wait for you guys to start blogging! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteBest of luck with YAtopia ladies and gentleman. Looking forward to your first posting.
ReplyDeleteThough it's not a new thing, I like to read agent interviews. Even if they're an agent that doesn't rep what I write (YA shorts and novel-length fiction, poetry, picture books, and non-fiction articles and essays), it's fascinating to read how they became an agent and how they approach the job. It's a different road for each agent, just as it is for each writer.
ReplyDeleteThis looks awesome! As for Kelley Vitollo, I remember that Chasing Normal was the first book I read on inkpop back when I was new to Inkpop. ☺ Good luck to all of you!!!! Rupert_96@att.net ( no im not a guy!)
ReplyDeleteThanks! HOpe you liked Chasing Normal. It's hiding on my computer until I'm ready to re-write it. lol
